Walking home has never been so difficult. Empty streets and the sound of leaves and litter being run around the pavement by a rebellious breeze make the air seem colder. Not that it had been anything you could consider warm to begin with.

She crested the wall and popped over and onto her feet just as the access door opened, spilling more suits with guns onto the roof. Too many, she thought and was already sprinting for the north side of the building, firing the FiveseveN to keep the suits off balance.
She had forgotten how much faster this body could move and was already in the air before she realized the next building's roof was 20 feet away and four stories down. Halfway through the arching descent, she sheathed the pistol and started a mid-air tumble to put her in the right position for a landing.
The building's roof greeted her with a loud crack and as she tumbled to absorb the impact of the fall, she drew the pistol again and came up facing the opposite direction in time to see the suits just getting to the ledge of the other building. She thought for a second that it must have been her legs breaking that had made the noise as she hit the building, but she realized a second later that the roof had actually been crushed.
Jesus Christ, this is crazy.

Without wondering whether she could actually do it or not, she had already lifted the couch and hurled it across the room at the entry. Just as the door was opening, the couch slammed into it and smashed it closed, probably injuring whomever had attempted to come through it. Later, she'd reflect that throwing a couch that weighed more than she should have some 20 feet across a room isn't something she'd be able to do normally.
The guy on the floor had a Desert Eagle in his hand and as she grabbed it she wondered how cliche this could possibly get. She put the DE's entire clip through the entry door and the wall around it and saw the bright red glow of blood leaving a body or three through her IR implant.
And then she was back out the window, ascending her zip line.
What the fuck just happened, she wondered. Had they known she was coming? Bad intel? A setup?

The sound of shoes on thin carpet was coming from behind the hallway door. Her IR wasn't picking up any body heat in the room she had the FiveseveN fixed on, and the rest of the penthouse seemed devoid of life. The body on the floor definitely wasn't her mark, and this definitely wasn't going according to plan. The hallway footsteps had stopped outside the penthouse - they definitely weren't going to be housekeeping.
